Donation Closet Impact

Read more about our Donation Closet and the volunteers who make it possible here.

“Many of our clients struggle with bedwetting. This is very common for children that have experienced trauma. Having a supply of fresh, clean sheets that they can access to clean up immediately and discreetly is so powerful. It allows them to have a measure of control over something that can be embarrassing and hard to face daily. It’s huge.”
“I cannot express how important this closet is to our program at CARES. It provides the everyday essentials for new clients & children, supplies for new moms who deliver while in our care and school supplies for our children. We are so very grateful for the Foundation, the closet & all the wonderful people who donate to support the closet for everyone in our care!!!”
“When a couple kids were displaced and living in hotel rooms, duffel bags were very helpful, and blankets helped them feel more secure by having some bedding they could call their own. In another case, a client’s father died tragically 4 days before school was starting. The family was struggling financially, and client had no school supplies. The help was greatly appreciated.”
“The Donation Closest has provided essentials for home in several different circumstances. Items such as blankets, pillows, soap, and school supplies have assisted with reducing stress for many clients. Specifically, one client was able to organize and keep track of their schoolwork with a backpack and folders. Receiving properly fitting, clean clothes has helped students have more confidence.”
